For more than twenty years, she has maintained the ongoing visual archive project 27938Kirahong, using photography to document human faces, animals, landscapes, and everyday encounters across different places. Now comprising more than 20,000 images, the archive serves as an important foundation for her artistic practice.
Through painting, these observed forms gradually transform into symbolic figures, archetypal faces, and perceptual landscapes.
Inspired by cultural memory, nature, mythology, and lived experience, Xiao works primarily with mineral pigments, watercolor, and metal leaf.
Her work seeks to create spaces for reflection, connection, and contemplation, inviting viewers to look more closely at the visible and invisible relationships that shape our lives.
