I am a London, Ontario, born artist with a great passion for realism, which I showcase in my landscape and animal pieces. Dogs are a common subject in my art because they hold a special place in my heart, and I find endless inspiration in the dogs I groom in my 9-5 job. Despite trying many mediums during my art education, I have found acrylic paint and graphite pencils to be my favourites. I enjoy painting because I can capture the colours of nature that inspire me. And graphite allows me to focus on the values I aim to create in dramatic black-and-white pieces. My art education began at Catholic Central High School, before I advanced to H. B. Beal’s post-secondary art program. During my time in BealArt, my drawing and painting teachers helped nurture and advance my skills. I decided to join the St. Thomas Art Guild as I lived in the Railway City for a short time, and I want to stay connected with a community of artists to continue my artistic journey. Currently, I have been experimenting with capturing the natural and the industrial worlds together. This is what I find most interesting about nature – its response to our never-ending desire to encroach on its space. Relating to my animal works, I enjoy the spontaneous, unstaged compositions and expressions. |
