ST. THOMAS ART GUILD SHOW & SALE 2021
Sharon Cook-Harbaruk's award-winning digital art MERGANZER LANDING 14x22 $225 Judge's Comments: I love photography for its immediacy and spontaneous nature. The trick is capturing the right moment and this piece is a great example of that. In addition to that fleeting moment, the choice of subject opens up a window to the viewer to see something they wouldn’t normally see. |

My photography interests began in 2007 at which time I joined the St. Thomas Photographic Guild. It didn't take long to find out how much I truly enjoyed not only taking the pictures and improving my techniques but also editing them. I began creating art from my photos and over the years have learned many techniques for doing so. My editing seems to take on a life of its own, similar to those who paint or make sculptures. It was while spending winters in Mission, TX., that I joined the Upper Valley Art League. and printed my first picture for their 1st annual show. I was fortunate in that it sold before it was even hung on display. I have been honoured to receive several People's Choice (3 years in Texas), Judge's Choice and Artist's Choice awards throughout the years. I have given tutorials on editing with Photoshop Elements including how to create abstracts from photos, including using textures. I have been selling my work for several years now and each sale stirs my creative needs. I also work on family photos that need cleaned up due to deterioration. Life is about learning and I continue to learn each and every time I pick up my camera or sit down to work on my photography.
