PAT DUWYN
I have always been engaged in some form of artistic endeavour ...from Saturday morning Arts & Crafts programs as an eight-year-old to more formal courses and seminars from community colleges, recognized artists and other public offerings. I am currently working towards my Certification in Botanical Illustration from the New York Botanical Gardens.
My artist history includes a variety of art forms from textile arts and weaving to acrylic and tole painting and an assortment of folk-art handicrafts. I became seriously engaged in Watercolour in 2005 and for the most part am self taught and work out of my studio at home in Belmont, Ontario (formally from Tillsonburg, Ontario). My watercolour style has been described as “bold with strong colours” and “defined lines boarding on impressionistic qualities”.
Subject matters have ranged from landscapes to macro florals, to scenic views and birds of prey. Emphasis lately has been Botanical Illustration and Botanical Art mostly in dry medium such as graphite and coloured pencil and enjoy the detail these offer.
My husband, Dennis, has been my biggest fan and critic. I spend time between our home and various travel locales. I am a former member of the Bridge Street Artists, Station Arts Tillsonburg, and Oxford Creative Connections. Retired from my formal career, I actively pursue my love of all the arts, including the occasional teaching engagement.
My studio is open by chance or appointment.
