JENNIFER CARSON
Jennifer Carson is a contemporary landscape painter in St. Thomas, working under the studio name Storms Studio Art. Her acrylic works explore light, weather - the kind of moment that makes you stand still a little longer.
Carson began painting at 40 as a way to process emotions that were too big and too tangled for words. What started as a way through it became the work itself which is why, in the end, her paintings aren’t really about the storm. They’re about what’s on the other side, what comes after: the quiet, the exhale, the ground you find under your feet again.
She paints in layers, working up from a dark ground through transparent glazes and soft veils of fog, letting the palette knife break through where the light lands. Her work grows out of the tonalist tradition and everything in it leans one direction - towards calm. A small sanctuary for your wall. Step in. Breathe out.
